Lake of Tremelin

Need to air out your mind, cut yourself off from everyday life, take the kids out or bubble in the forest? Direction the Lake of Trémelin in Iffendic!

A 30 min from Rennes and at the gates of the Forest of Broceliande, the Lake of Trémelin is a small corner preserved between moors and forest where it is good to stroll, sunbathe, take a dip, exercise, discover exhibitions of contemporary art …

In July / August do not miss the Wednesdays of the Lake: shows, concerts, outdoor cinema. A picnic, a dose of good humor, a little plaid and let’s go!

A PRESERVED SITE IN THE HEART OF THE FOREST

The lake of Trémelin, is a 50-hectare body of water, located in the heart of 220 hectares of forest and moors. A beach allows you to swim safely in the summer. The youngest can splash around without any worries, in water at 20°C, and the older ones can use the platform to make the most beautiful dives. The supervised beach and the excellent water quality allow the Lac de Trémelin to have the Blue Flag label.

You can also initiate yourself to the joys of fishing. The tourist office located at the edge of the lake offers fishing passes by the day (weekly and annual).

Exhibitions on the lakefront

L'aparté, place of contemporary art

We can not go without this place when we are at the Lac de Trémelin, we necessarily spend a moment in his day. It intrigues already by its wooden structure added to this former hunting lodge (it was at the time the house of the owner of the domain). We approach then and we can not help but be curious, in the interstices of the wooden cladding we distinguish some shapes and colorful objects … we launch, we enter!

The team of L’aparté is there to welcome you but especially to give you a hand in the reading of the works on display. Whether you are a novice or seasoned in contemporary art, understanding the path between the original idea and the final realization immediately facilitates the relationship between yourself and the artwork!

So don’t hesitate any longer, enter L’aparté to awaken your senses. At the end of your visit, if a burst of creativity should come over you, a drawing desk is at your disposal to let your imagination or that of your children run free.

L’aparté is also a place of residence and creation. Each year, five confirmed or emerging artists are hosted on site and take advantage of this immersion to develop an original project, thought in connection with the specificities of the place. A vernissage and an exhibition close this time of experimentation.

And because there is no age to learn about art, visits and workshops related to the current exhibition are offered to schools throughout the year. Sometimes duringschool vacations workshops are offered to the general public!

Open air exhibition "Remember Tremelin

Remembrances, memories…Tremelin, its tour of the lake, its picnic tables, its children’s games, its beach… But how was it before? 10, 20, 50 or even 100 years ago? Cécile, in charge of the heritage of Montfort Community, plunged into the archives, private collections and even into the memory of the inhabitants that she met for the occasion.

The open-air exhibition “Remember Tremelin” is proposed onthe whole site, all year round, retracing an incredible history punctuated by lavandières, floating wrestling matches or parachute releases… On each building bordering the Lac de Tremelin, old photos also show you what the Lac looked like several decades ago…

Also to be discovered: some videos of testimonials from locals who talk about the old marsh, the plane crash, the history of the frozen lake
